Annually from mid-December until mid-March, visitors can travel most of the park’s roads from the West, South, East and North entrances by approved  commercially guided snowmobiles and snowcoaches  and via the  non-commercially guided snowmobile access program . Currently, there is limited snowfall on roads in the eastern, western and northern parts of the park. This means that visitors will be able to travel in the park, however, the type of transportation used on park roads by commercially guided snowmobile or snowcoach tour companies will depend on road conditions.   Yellowstone announces lottery for 2023-2024 Non-Commercially Guided Snowmobile Access Program News Release Date:  July 25, 2023 Contact:   Morgan Warthin , (307) 344-2015 MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, WY – Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 1, people may apply to the 2023-2024 winter lottery for permits to snowmobile in Yellowstone National Park without a commercial guide. Authorized in 2013, the  Non-Commercially Guided Snowmobile Access Program  allows permit-holders to enter the park for up to three days with a group of up to five snowmobilers.   This year’s lottery will be open on  www.recreation.gov  from Aug. 1-31, 2023. Successful applicants will be notified in early September. Unclaimed or canceled permits will be made available via  www.recreation.gov  on a first-come, first-served basis beginning on Oct. 1, 2023. There is no waiting list. Cancellations may occur throughout the winter season, so check the website often for openings. Trips can be for a maximum of three days in length and permits

The  hotel closed  immediately after the  historic June flood  because of damage to the area’s wastewater system. The hotel will be closed to overnight guests and food services will not be provided.  The hotel gift shop, coffee and beverage service, lobby and ski shop will be open. Frank MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, WY – The West, South and East entrances and nearly all roads in Yellowstone National Park will be closed to regular vehicle traffic Nov. 1. Adams, 307.739.3431 MOOSE, WY— Teton Park Road, Moose-Wilson Road, and Signal Mountain Summit Road within Grand Teton National Park are now open to cross-country skiing, skate skiing, snowshoeing, and walking. Once snow begins to accumulate on the roadbeds, the designated portions of these roads may accommodate winter recreation, and the use of wheeled vehicles is prohibited for the season.             Bicycles, including, snow/fat/electric bikes, are not permitted on roads designated for over-snow access. Bikes are allowed on roadways open to motor vehicle use in Grand Teton National Park. This decision is consistent with the park's Winter Use Adaptive Management Plan , which stated the National Park Service would continually re-examine and adjust winter use monitoring strategies and management actions as new information became available. This decision will not affect snowmobile or snowcoach use in the park or impact visitors.
