Frank News Release Date: August 11, 2026 Contact: Yellowstone Public Affairs , (307) 344-2015 MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, Wyo. – Yellowstone National Park hosted 958,706 recreation visits in July 2026, down 2% from July 2025 (975,109 recreation visits). Visitation in July 2026 showed an 11% decrease from July 2021 (1,080,767 recreation visits), which was Yellowstone's record-breaking year with over 4.8 million recreation visits and the busiest July on record. So far in 2026, the park has hosted 2,635,384 recreation visits, down 1% from 2025 (2,666,031 recreation visits), and down 1% from 2021 (2,668,765 recreation visits). Frank News Release Date: August 12, 2026 Contact: Yellowstone Public Affairs , (307) 344-2015 Update: Yellowstone lifts fishing restrictions on most rivers and streams parkwide MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, Wyo. – Beginning Aug. 12, Yellowstone National Park will lift the fishing restrictions on rivers and streams that went into effect on July 29. The restrictions were implemented because low water flows and high water temperatures can be lethal to fish. Cooling weather and water temperatures in the forecast allow for these restrictions to be lifted. Anglers will be able to fish on most park rivers, streams and lakes daily from sunrise to sunset as specified in the 2026 Fishing Regulations booklet . Fire danger level increased to HIGH in Yellowstone National Park Fire danger HIGH NPS News Release Date: July 14, 2026 Contact: Yellowstone Public Affairs , (307) 344-2015 MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, Wyo. – The parkwide fire danger level for Yellowstone is now HIGH . At this time, there are no fire restrictions in place or planned in the park and there are no uncontrolled wildland fires. Stay informed about current fire activity in Yellowstone. Campfires are only permitted within established fire rings and grates in designated campgrounds, picnic areas and some backcountry campsites. Campfires must always be attended and cold to the touch before abandoning. Soak, stir, feel, repeat. The Greater Yellowstone area is a fire-adapted ecosystem . Fire plays an important role in maintaining the health of this area’s wildlife habitat and vegetation.

Frank Subscribe | What is RSS News Release Date: July 9, 2026 Contact: Yellowstone Public Affairs , (307) 344-2015 MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, Wyo. – Effective Thursday, July 9, 2026, select Yellowstone National Park rivers and streams will close to fishing daily from 2 p.m. to sunrise the following day due to warm water temperatures and low river flows. Water temperatures in select rivers and streams have exceeded 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius) in recent days, and flows are low. Additionally, air temperatures with highs around 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius) are forecast in the coming days.
