Frank Subscribe    |  What is RSS News Release Date:  April 12, 2024 Contact:   Morgan Warthin , (307) 344-2015 MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, WY –  Beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2024, select roads in Yellowstone National Park will open to the public, weather permitting. Roads begin to open annually this time of year for the summer season.   On Saturday, April 20, entrance fees will be waived in celebration of  National Park Week . Roads opening April 19 West Entrance (West Yellowstone, Montana) to Old Faithful (via Madison Junction) Mammoth Hot Springs to Old Faithful (via Norris Junction and Madison Junction) Norris Junction to Canyon Village Additional  park roads  will open throughout May, weather permitting.   Postal Service To Issue Waterfall Stamps What: The U.S. Postal Service is celebrating the variety and beauty of American waterfalls with 12 new stamps. Each stamp features a photograph with the name of the waterfall and state in which it is located beneath it. The first-day-of-issue event for the Waterfalls Forever stamps is free and open to all visitors of Yellowstone National Park. News of the stamp is being shared with the hashtag  #WaterfallsStamps .   Weather-permitting, Yellowstone National Park’s East Entrance Road opens Friday, May 5 Anticipate temporary road closures near Sylvan Pass due to increased avalanche danger        East Entrance Road conditions at Sylvan Pass       NPS / Jacob W. Frank News Release Date:  May 4, 2023 Contact:   Morgan Warthin , (307) 344-2015 Weather-permitting, the road from the East Entrance near Cody, Wyoming, to Fishing Bridge Junction (Sylvan Pass), and Canyon Village to Lake Village, will open Friday, May 5 at 8 a.m. to public motor vehicle traffic. The public are asked to: Anticipate temporary road closures near Sylvan Pass because of increased avalanche danger from recent snowfall and warm temperatures. Watch for quickly changing weather conditions. Many areas of the park are still experiencing winter conditions and snow and ice may cover sections of road.   Weather-permitting, East Entrance Road in Yellowstone National Park opens Friday, May 6        East Entrance              NPS/Diane Renkin Weather-permitting, the road from East Entrance to Lake Village (Sylvan Pass), and Canyon Village to Lake Village, will open Friday, May 6 at 8 a.m. to public motor vehicle traffic. Conditions in Yellowstone can change quickly, especially during spring and fall, and roads can temporarily close due to poor driving conditions. Check current road status on the  park website  and by calling (307) 344-2117. To receive Yellowstone road alerts on your mobile phone, text "82190" to 888-777 (an automatic text reply will confirm receipt and provide instructions).
