Annually from mid-December until mid-March, visitors can travel most of the park’s roads from the West, South, East and North entrances by approved  commercially guided snowmobiles and snowcoaches  and via the  non-commercially guided snowmobile access program . Currently, the accumulation of snowfall on roads varies across the park. This means that visitors will be able to travel in the park, however, the type of transportation used on park roads by commercially guided snowmobile or snowcoach tour companies will depend on road conditions. Frank News Release Date:  May 16, 2024 Contact:   Linda Veress , (307) 344-2015 The road from Canyon Village to Tower Fall (Dunraven Pass) opens today, May 16, to public motor vehicle traffic. Originally scheduled to open May 24, road crews were able to complete spring plowing operations ahead of schedule due to mild winter conditions. The Chittenden Road to Mount Washburn will remain closed at this time. All park roads are now open for the season. The public are asked to: Watch for quickly changing  weather conditions  and possible temporary closures due to late spring storms.   NEWS RELEASE Nearly all entrances and roads in Yellowstone National Park will be closed Nov. 1; Last day to enjoy most of the park will be Oct. 31           NPS / Jacob W. Frank MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, WY – The West, South and East entrances and nearly all roads in Yellowstone National Park will be closed to regular vehicle traffic Nov. 1. The park annually closes roads at this time of year to prepare them for the  winter season  and  snowmobile and snowcoach  travel, which will begin Dec. 15. The last day for visitors to drive most roads will be Monday, Oct. 31.     Park roads that will be closed Nov. 1 include:  Mammoth Hot Springs to Norris  Norris to Canyon Village   Canyon Village to Lake Village   East Entrance to Lake Village (Sylvan Pass)    Lake Village to West Thumb   South Entrance to West Thumb   West Thumb to Old Faithful (Craig Pass)  Old Faithful to Madison   West Entrance to Madison ...

  NEWS RELEASE Yellowstone visitation statistics for September 2022;  Commemorate 150 Years of Yellowstone News Release Date:  October 17, 2022 Contact:   Morgan Warthin , (307) 344-2015 MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, WY – Yellowstone National Park hosted 567,587 recreation visits in September 2022. This is a 36% decrease from September 2021 (882,078 recreational visits), the most-visited September on record, and an 18% decrease from September 2019 (693,118) which was the last year before COVID. On June 13, all entrances to Yellowstone National Park closed due to  historic flooding . Park visitors were evacuated over the next 24 hours. On June 22, the East, South and West entrances to the park reopened on a limited entry basis. On July 2, entry restrictions on the East, South and West entrances were removed. The North (Gardiner, Montana) and Northeast (Cooke City/Silver Gate, Montana) entrances remained closed to visitor vehicle traffic through September. Visitors traveli...
