All four projects will cause  delays  (Lewis River Bridge, Old Faithful to West Thumb, Yellowstone River Bridge and Northeast Entrance Road). It’s important that visitors plan accordingly for these delays located along the park’s southern and northern road corridors.  The park's North Entrance (Gardiner, Montana) and Northeast Entrance (Silver Gate and Cooke City, Montana) are open to all traffic with no restrictions. Funded by the  Great American Outdoors Act  (GAOA), this project will preserve year-round public access to and from the park’s Northeast Entrance and communities of Silver Gate and Cooke City, Montana. "As a vital piece of the only road corridor in the park that is plowed for winter use, the Yellowstone River Bridge provides visitors and communities with all-season opportunities to enjoy the beauty of the world's first national park," said National Park Service Director

NEWS RELEASE Winter weather and hazardous driving conditions expected in Yellowstone National Park; Anticipate temporary road closures and driving delays; Stay informed about road status and weather conditions           NPS / Josh Spice News Release Date:  October 20, 2022 Contact:   Morgan Warthin , (307) 344-2015 Last updated: October 20, 2022 Due to expected winter weather and hazardous driving conditions in Yellowstone National Park over the next few days, visitors should anticipate temporary road closures and driving delays.   While closures can occur anywhere in the park, accumulations of snow are most likely to happen on the high mountain passes. In anticipation of hazardous driving conditions, the following roads will close on Friday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m.:  Tower Junction to Canyon Junction (Dunraven Pass)  West Thumb to Old Faithful (Craig Pass). Right: Northeast Entrance Road       improvement progress on Oct. 4, 2022.        NPS photo News Release Date:  October 4, 2022 MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, WY - Yellowstone National Park in conjunction with the Federal Highway Administration has determined that the  Old Gardiner Road  (a limited-access road between Gardiner, Montana and Mammoth Hot Springs) will open to regular traffic no later than Nov. 1, 2022. The two-lane project will be extended up to two weeks to ensure over 5,000 feet of guardrail are properly installed for traffic safety. Additionally, Yellowstone asked the Federal Highway Administration to build a new ¼-mile approach road into Mammoth Hot Springs after the project was underway to avoid a 12-15% steep grade on the original road.
