Roads begin to open annually this time of year for the summer season.   On Saturday, April 20, entrance fees will be waived in celebration of  National Park Week . Roads opening April 19 West Entrance (West Yellowstone, Montana) to Old Faithful (via Madison Junction) Mammoth Hot Springs to Old Faithful (via Norris Junction and Madison Junction) Norris Junction to Canyon Village Additional  park roads  will open throughout May, weather permitting. Frank News Release Date:  April 2, 2024 Contact:   Morgan Warthin , (307) 344-2015 MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, WY –  Beginning Tuesday, April 2, bicyclists willing to brave the  unpredictable weather  of spring in Yellowstone National Park can ride 49 miles between the West Entrance in West Yellowstone, Montana, and Mammoth Hot Springs. The following  park roads  between the West Entrance and Mammoth Hot Springs will open to bicycling: West Entrance to Madison Junction Madison Junction to Norris Junction Norris Junction to Mammoth Hot Springs As conditions allow, bicycles will also be permitted from the East Entrance to the east end of Sylvan Pass (6 miles). Check the  bicycling web page  for updates.   Bicycles are not allowed on the remaining park roads until they start to open to public automobiles on Frida

Frank News Release Date:  March 14, 2024 Contact:   Lori Hogan (Contractor) , 307-772-2124 News release from the U.S. Department of Justice District of Wyoming Pierce Brosnan, 70, of Malibu, California, was fined $500, and required to pay a $1,000 community service payment to the Yellowstone Forever Geological Fund, a $30 court processing fee, and a $10 special assessment. U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephanie A. Hambrick imposed the sentence on March 14, in Mammoth, Wyoming. Mr. Brosnan pleaded guilty to foot travel in a thermal area.   NEWS RELEASE Yellowstone National Park’s Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel to open July 1, 2023        Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel Exterior        Courtesy Xanterra Travel Collection MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, WY – Yellowstone National Park’s Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel and Cabins will open July 1, 2023. The hotel closed immediately after the  historic 2022 flood  because of damage to the area’s wastewater system. The hotel gift shop with sandwiches, snacks and beverages, and lobby are currently open. The Terrace Grill with sandwiches, salads, ice cream and beverages, is currently open for lunch and dinner and will add breakfast hours beginning July 2. The hotel dining room will open at a later date. Visit  operating hours and services  for updates. All tours departing from the Mammoth Hotel will begin July 1. Due to the heavy winter and difficult construction conditions, the new system will not be operational by April 28 as originally planned, the scheduled Mammoth Hotel opening date. Conditions permitting, most park roads will open to oversnow travel by snowmobile and snowcoach. Annually from mid-December until mid-March, visitors travel most of the park’s roads by  commercially guided snowmobiles and snowcoaches  and via the  non-commercially guided snowmobile access program . Top Things to Know in Winter Most Park Roads are Closed to Automobiles The only exception is the road between the North and Northeast entrances, which is open to automobiles all year, conditions permitting. The  hotel closed  immediately after the  historic June flood  because of damage to the area’s wastewater system.   Flood Recovery Updates: Yellowstone's North Entrance and road to Mammoth Hot Springs opened Oct. 30       Road between North Entrance and Mammoth Hot Springs (Old Gardiner Road) UPDATE: Oct. 30, 2022 Yellowstone National Park’s North Entrance and road to Mammoth Hot Springs opens TODAY, Oct. 30 Yellowstone to waive all entrance fees Oct. 30 and Oct. 31 MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, WY – Effective immediately, Yellowstone National Park’s North Entrance in Gardiner, Montana, and road between the North Entrance and Mammoth Hot Springs (Old Gardiner Road) is open to regular visitor traffic. Contractors completed striping yesterday, Oct. 29. The public should keep the following details in mind when driving the road: Yellowstone reminds the public of everyone’s responsibility to use the road carefully to avoid accidents. Steep grades and sharp curves exist. Drive slowly and with caution. Speed limits range between 15-25 mph. There are no length or weight restrictions on the road (see exceptions
