News Release (Heads Up) Temporary closure of Artists Paintpots in Yellowstone National Park Visitors on the Artists Paintpots Trail Matt Poyner News Release Date:  October 8, 2024 Contact:   Linda Veress , (307) 344-2015 Effective immediately, the parking lot, trail and boardwalks at  Artists Paintpots , located south of Norris Junction in the western part of Yellowstone, is temporarily closed for repairs. There is no access to the hydrothermal features and mudpots during the closure, which will last up to two weeks. Crews will repair the accessible boardwalk ramp, ensuring visitor safety and access from the parking lot to the trail network. Last updated: October 8, 2024

Frank All parkwide fishing restrictions due to warm water temperatures and low flows lifted Date of release: September 16, 2024 MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, WY - Effective immediately, the Firehole River in Yellowstone National Park is now open to fly fishing from sunrise to sunset. The park has lifted the partial fishing closure on this river and its associated tributaries due to cooler water temperatures. All fishing restrictions parkwide due to warm water temperatures and low flows have now been lifted. Read the  Fishing Regulations 2024 Booklet  for more information about fishing in Yellowstone.

Frank   News Release Date:  October 24, 2023 Contact:   Morgan Warthin , (307) 344-2015 MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, WY – The West, South and East entrances and nearly all roads in Yellowstone National Park will be closed to regular vehicle traffic Nov. 1. The park annually closes roads at this time of year to prepare them for the  winter season  and  snowmobile and snowcoach  travel, which will begin Dec. 15. The last day for visitors to drive most park roads will be Tuesday, Oct. 31.   The only roads open year-round are between the North Entrance in Gardiner, Montana, and the Northeast Entrance in Cooke City/Silver Gate, Montana (via Mammoth Hot Springs, Tower Junction and Lamar Valley). Frank News Release Date:  September 6, 2023 Contact:   Linda Veress , (307) 344-2015 Flush toilets and running water are temporarily unavailable in the Madison area, located 14 miles east of the West Entrance, while teams repair the water system. Areas without water include: Madison Campground Madison Comfort Station Government housing area The park is working to provide temporary restrooms, handwashing stations and potable water at the campground, comfort station and government area. The campground, picnic area and Madison Information Station will remain open. The outage is expected to last at least five days and updates will be provided when available.

Frank News Release Date:  July 18, 2023 Contact:   Morgan Warthin , (307) 344-2015 On Wednesday, July 19, beginning at 6 a.m., West Thumb Geyser Basin in the southern part of Yellowstone National Park will close temporarily for road improvements. The closed areas include: West Thumb Geyser Basin parking lot West Thumb Geyser Basin Trail (including boardwalks and restrooms) Duck Lake Trail Yellowstone Lake Overlook Trail The closed areas are expected to reopen at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 20. Expect up to 30-minute delays. Drive slowly through construction zones and be alert to workers, heavy equipment, wildlife, and other hazards.
