Garland appeared in front of Magistrate Judge Mark L. Carman in Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming on July 2, 2021, for the sentencing. Theodore Garland has a social-media page, a podcast, and a guidebook. All three have overlapping pictures and posts about his guided tours in YNP, which violated closures and other park regulations and encouraged visitors to do the same. Carman in Mammoth Hot Springs, Wyoming on July 1, 2021, for the arraignment and sentencing. On July 7, 2020, while wearing a raccoon skin hat and waving an American flag, Merritt ran out on the thermal area and up to the geyser of Old Faithful more than once. He then failed to appear for his court hearing on July 23, 2020, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was arrested on June 5, 2021, in Maine and made his appearance at the Yellows

A food storage violation citation with a mandatory court appearance was issued to one individual and both incidents are under investigation.  Grand Teton National Park Superintendent Chip Jenkins said, “Feeding wildlife is illegal and dangerous, and we take these incidents very seriously. The impacts of irresponsible behavior can have very negative effects for humans and wildlife.”  On June 11 a visitor reported that a grizzly bear walked through a Grassy Lake Road campsite, sniffed
