Frank News Release Date: November 1, 2021 Contact: Morgan Warthin , (307) 344-2015 MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, WY – This weekend, November 6-7, provides the last chance for visitors to drive to many iconic locations in Yellowstone. The West, South and East entrances and all roads, with one exception, will close to vehicle travel at 12:01 a.m. Monday, November 8. The park annually closes roads in early November to prepare them for the winter season and snowmobile and snowcoach travel, which will begin Wednesday, December 15. The one exception is the road from the park’s North Entrance at Gardiner, Montana, through Mammoth Hot Springs to the Northeast Entrance and communities of Cooke City and Silver Gate, Montana. Frank News Release Date: October 18, 2021 Contact: Morgan Warthin , (307) 344-2015 MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, WY – The National Park Service (NPS) encourages public comment on a proposal to suspend one component of the adaptive monitoring plan for winter use, which was initially put in place to evaluate effects to resources in relation to snowmobiles and Oversnow Vehicles (OSV) use. Starting in the winter of 2021 and 2022, a wildlife monitoring effort identified in the 2012-2013 Winter Use Plan and Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS)/Record of Decision (ROD) would be suspended given the results have not substantially changed over the decade evaluated. Frank News Release Date: July 29, 2021 Contact: Morgan Warthin , 307-344-2015 MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, WY – Beginning Sunday, August 1, people may apply to the 2021-2022 winter lottery for permits to snowmobile in Yellowstone without a commercial guide. Authorized in 2013, the Non-Commercially Guided Snowmobile Access Program allows one group of up to five snowmobiles to enter Yellowstone from each of its four winter entrances per day. This year’s lottery will be open on www.recreation.gov from August 1-31, 2021. Successful applicants will be notified in early September. Unclaimed or cancelled permits will be made available via www.recreation.gov on a first-come, first-serve basis beginning on October 1, 2021. There is no waiting list. Cancellations may occur throughout the winter season, so check the w
